a healthy balance:

in the past 4 years, i have experienced both sides of the too-big-too-skinny spectrum. at one point, i thought i was too heavy and others thought i looked healthy. at another point, i thought i was at a good weight but others thought i was too skinny. it has been a challenge for me to find a place where i am content with my body and others aren't criticizing me. welcome to my journey.

here, you'll find a collection of what inspires me to continue living a healthy and happy life.

progress pics

like i’ve said, i’ve gone through periods of feeling too heavy and then being considered too thin. here is a progression of how i have looked in the past 4 years… the first pic is april of 2009 and the last is july of 2011.

the top row has pics of me at my heaviest. my short, brown hair makes me look like a completely different person than some of the bottom pics. the two middle ones on the top row would be me at my heaviest. the bottom row displays how i have progressed since i started working out. the second from the left is probably me at my thinnest. i don’t have many pics from then but it isn’t pretty.. i was probably around 104 lbs. the last two on the bottom are about 8 months apart… you can see that i started lifting to get a bit of definition in my arms and abs.

CURRENT PICS:

June 23, 2012 — 110 lbs, 5’ 5”
These are the first photos i’ve taken of myself as i’ve been trying to put on muscle. i definitely have more definition than i ever have had before, but i would like to put on quite a bit more muscle. especially in my arms, chest, and back. my abs are a pain in the ass because i can’t get them as defined as i would like. something to work on.

july 23, 2012

after a month of some serious weight lifting, i am pretty bummed with the lack of progress i’ve had toward gaining muscle. i know why there isn’t much of a difference tho. i definitely need to up my calories each day. i’ve been eating at a caloric deficit basically everyday (i don’t remember the last time i went way above maintenance) and obviously i need to EAT if i want to GAIN. DUHHHH callie. i’m really hoping that in one month from now, i’ll be able to see more of a change. because i. am. going. to. eat.  and i will not do so much cardio!!!
